Our Amazons don’t mount on horseback to fight, they conquer their world with 21st century digital skills necessary for their socio-economic empowerment.
May 13, 2019, Digital Amazons was officially launched. An initiative of Street Project Foundation executed in collaboration with the Association of Advertising Agencies of Nigeria’s committee of Women in Advertising (WIA). It kicked off in a colourful inaugural ceremony held at the NG_Hub by Facebook.
In attendance were the Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Ministry of Wealth Creation and Employment, Board Chair, Street Project Foundation, Chairman, Committee of Women in Advertising and Co-Founder/Director of Strategy, Yellow Brick Road.
The first cohort of 25 young women ran for three weeks from May 13-31, 2019. During this period, seasoned professionals in Advertising, Digital Marketing, Photography, Graphics Design, Content Writing, Copywriting, Project Management and Enterprise Development facilitated hands-on sessions with the young women selected for this program.
The top five Digital Amazons had an opportunity to meet face-to-face with ten top women in Advertising during the first in the series of WIA Speed Mentoring Program.
On 31st May, the Digital Amazons received complimentary safe online training organized by CC-Hub, most of them got to change their passwords after learning how fast it will take a hacker to figure out their passwords.
After an exciting three weeks of learning, 23 Digital Amazons successfully graduated from the program and have been placed on Internships ever since.
The 2nd Cohort of Digital Amazons is scheduled to run from July 8 to July 26, 2019 at NG_Hub by Facebook.
