On July 1, Street Project Foundation’s COO took the stage at a pivotal Data Review Meeting organized by the Centre for the Advancement and Protection of the Rights of Vulnerable People (CAPRIGHTS-VP). This event shed light on an often-overlooked group—Child Domestic Workers (CDWs)—who face unique challenges and vulnerabilities, rarely receiving the protection they deserve.
Our COO, Mrs. Eduvie, delivered a compelling presentation that painted a vivid picture of the struggles these young workers face. With a focus on Street Project Foundation’s frontline experiences, she not only highlighted the daily challenges of CDWs but also shared valuable insights and lessons learned from our ongoing initiatives. Through this presentation, she called for increased safeguarding measures and outlined actionable steps toward creating safer environments for these children.
The meeting brought together diverse voices from key stakeholders like the Federal Ministry of Labour, the Police, Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), and other dedicated NGOs and advocacy groups. This atmosphere of collective commitment inspired collaborative discussions on how to address the systemic issues affecting CDWs.
As we walked away from this event, we felt renewed purpose. This was more than just a meeting—it was a powerful call to action, reinforcing our resolve to advocate for the rights of these children. Our dedication to supporting vulnerable populations is unwavering, and we’re eager to see where this partnership with CAPRIGHTS-VP and other partners will lead us. This is only the beginning, and together, we are creating real, lasting change for Child Domestic Workers across Nigeria.
